SML has designed structural supports for PV and solar thermal installations on new and existing residential, commercial and municipal buildings. Also, SML has been retained by manufacturers to develop and analyze racking systems and support rails for mass production.

SML past projects include:

• White Tank Mountain Library, a 29,000 square foot LEED certified Platinum project, the first library in Arizona with this rating. SML analyzed the roof top PV mounting system for the 256 module system.
• Twin Peaks Winery, a vineyard in Yountville, California. SML analyzed the ground pole mounted system in a very difficult soil condition using site specific geotechnical reports. The system included 1,498 Hyundai 230 watt modules.
• Maricopa County Detention Facilities, billed as largest county conservation project in the nation, including the installation of 972 solar thermal collectors at seven locations. SML analyzed the roof mounted racking system as well as perfored the county required special structural inspections.
